Elly Mackay is an artist, illustrator and educator. She lives in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada with her husband and two year old daughter. She says that some of her favorite days are spent making paper theater, drinking tea and listening to the CBC. She paints on yupo paper and cut it into layers that she sets up in a miniature theater that her husband Simon made for her. She plays with lights and filters to create atmosphere and then photographs the scenes. Simon also makes cabinets and little boxes that she create scenes in. They are often about childhood and fleeting things, such as memories, shadows and often the weather.
